Students in Mrs. Arnett's 1st-grade classroom were excited to release the butterflies that started as little caterpillars in their classroom. These students have been studying the life cycle of the butterfly, watching it change from a wiggly caterpillar to forming a chrysalis to a fluttering butterfly. Today, the butterflies were released to continue the life cycle in the wild.
Mrs. Arnett's first-grade students have also studied the life cycle of a chicken by hatching chicks from eggs in an incubator, and the life cycle of frogs by watching them grow from tadpoles, as well as the life cycle of plants earlier in the school year.
