Fifth graders come to my computer lab once a week. They continue to practice their typing skills as well as learning about some Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. This is to help prepare them for the upper grades. They have a program, Typing Club, that I use to track their progress with typing and they will be working in this program during this time. This is designed to be used with a computer keyboard. I will be able to see what they have done using my teacher portal. They need to do about 20 minutes on Typing Club. There will be some other activities for them to do, also. Thank you for keeping the students learning during these different times.

Wow! The last week of this strange school year! You made it! Next year you will be going on a new adventure in a higher grade. It'll be exciting, to be sure. This week you will still be going to Symbaloo. It looks a bit different from the one we use at school, but you still just click on the tiles. Some of the titles on the tiles won't show up here, just hover your mouse over the tile and it then pops up. Please click the link and follow the directions given below.
First, you will be playing a memory game. Click on Key Memory Brain Game. Turn over pairs of matching cards with keys A-Z. Keep your fingers on home keys and try not to look down at your fingers!
Go back to Symbaloo, then click on the Ninja vs. Zombies game! Though the zombies look more like ogres if you ask me. Type the letters over the ogres' head to defeat them. Don't let the ogres overtake the ninja!
Due:
Week of May 11-15, 2020

Hey there, once again! Hope you hanging in there well. This week you will be working in your Typing Club lessons. Type for at least 15 minutes on this; see how far you can get. There will also bee a TypeTastic lesson for you to do. I have also included a paper for you to read and do on the Binary Code. This is located at the bottom of this assignment. If you remember, we looked at binary coding earlier this year when we made our bracelets with the binary code for the first letter of your name. It's easy, but it will remind you about what binary code is.

I have found a couple of typing games you might like playing while improving your typing! Keep your fingers on home row keys, and make sure each finger is typing the correct key to up your typing skills. The first one is called, Glider Cats. You first have to pick a name to display (only for you to see). Then pick your plane and start the game. Pick at least the 4 letter long words. Letters and words appear at the bottom of the box for you to type. Type quickly and accurately to fly ahead of the other planes!
Click on the game below:
The second game is called Typeroids Home Row. You will be typing lowercase letters to destroy aliens. It gets increasingly harder as you go through the game. Type quickly and correctly so the monsters do not get to you or you lose. Good Luck!

Hello there, Fifth Grade! I hope you are doing well and keeping busy! Here we are in April already. You do need to keep getting into Typing Club and working on your lessons first. Do this for at least 15 minutes, 20 minutes would be fantastic.

Now I have a few NEW typing games for you to play. (After you finish your time in Typing Club.) The first one is Typing Ninja, where you type to destroy the monsters. Be aware that the letters are all lowercase and you only have 4 lives. It gets increasingly harder as you destroy more monsters.
Click on the game below:
Now the next game is called Cute Jumper but don't let the name fool you! Choose a character, then a level; start off with an easier level to see how the game works, then work your way up to the harder ones. Careful to type as quickly as you can because your island sinks, and if it sinks too far, you lose. You also only get 4 lives (mistakes) so type carefully as well. Good luck!
